Herne Bay Sea Cadets Host Ardea Freemasons Lodge: Boosting Community Support for Future Growth
On Tuesday, 9th July 2024, Herne Bay Sea Cadets – TS Triumph – welcomed representatives from the Ardea Freemasons Lodge. Members of Ardea Lodge No. 6717 engaged with cadets and adult volunteers, sharing stories and discussing future aspirations.
Two cadets, recently returned from a voyage on the Sea Cadets flagship, TS Royalist, captivated the Lodge Master, Matt Jury, with their tales of life on the high seas. Their experiences highlighted the adventurous spirit and educational opportunities offered by the Sea Cadets. The stories resonated with Matt, as a former member of the Roayl Navy.
Unit Chair Alison Walker addressed the guests, outlining ambitious plans to restore the unit to its former glory as the premier unit in the Southern Area and to reestablish its band as one of the leading Sea Cadet bands in the UK. “This is the beginning of a journey that will see the unit grow and develop,” Alison said. “Building the unit requires support from the community and organizations like the Freemasons and the local authority.”
TS Triumph plays a vital role in the Herne Bay community, providing adventure and education to young people and helping to develop the good citizens of tomorrow.
