A number of members of East Kent are taking part in fund raising events during this, HEART MONTH.
Our first lodge Paddock Wood Lodge Number 4291, held a meal for members and guests. Here is their story.
On Wednesday 11th February 2026 the members of Paddock Wood Lodge hosted a white Table event at the Centre in aid of the British Heart Foundation (BHF). This was in memory of a late Brother Vic Cross who sadly died at a young age from Heart disease. February being a very poignant month as is “Be Kind to your Heart Month”. Both the late brother and his partner were strong supporters of the BHF and making the donation in February would be a fitting tribute.
Amongst the many invited guests and family was the Fundraising manager for Kent Mrs Frances Brownhill who gladly received a donation of £1000 from the Worshipful Master Andy Jepson and Charity Steward Richard Hunt. The in-house caterers excelled themselves with an excellent 3 course meal (Heart Friendly, sort of!!)

EAST KENT COMMUNICATIONS TEAM, WALK for HEARTS
As Christmas was still fading from our minds, and the effects of eating and drinking too much had taken its toll, Red Paul or Paul Goodwin had a great idea, of getting together as a group and raising money for the British Heart Foundation.
What a better way to get in shape than to walk one or two miles a day? What a pity it has turned out to be one of the wettest months I can remember in a long time.
Still, as we reach the halfway point, I can announce that the team has raised over £2700 so far. £2748 to be exact! What a great effort by all.
But it is not all good news. Our trustie editor, Dee has unfortunately had a fall whilst walking his dogs, and will now be out of actioon for some weeks or months, as he awaits a full diagnosis and remedy for his injury. We wish him well.
