Help for the Medway Scouts
It has been hard for many lodges to continue the excellent work they do throughout the year, raising money for local charities.
But not for St Mary’s Gillingham Green Lodge, No 6499!
Meeting in person due to the covid pandemic has been impossible, so they took their communications online. A year of video calls using the Zoom platform, enabled the lodge to hold “virtual” Raffles. (Something we all do in our lodges after our meals each month). But these calls have resulted in what can only be described as an amazing amount of money raised for local charities.
YES £5070 to date….
From Left to Right, some of the charities have benefitted from the donations and money raised by the lodge. Graham Elder presenting the cheque for £400 to Medway Scouts. Members of the lodge on a zoom call.
Where did the Money Go?
Medway Scouts will be using the money donated by the lodge to help pay for a new picnic area and shower block at Buckmore Park Scout Campsite. (This is where the cheque presentation took place).
This will enable hundreds of children to have a fantastic time camping out and engaging in outdoor activities.

A Big Thank You to all members of the lodge who have donated and continue to donate through this difficult time.
