The Weald of Kent Lodge No. 1854 made a contribution of £800 to The Old Schoolhouse Larder. This is a local charity in Tenterden set up during the pandemic as a food bank for vulnerable families in the community with children. The majority of the donation was from the funeral collection of Alan Bennett, a long standing member of the Weald of Kent, which his widow Lorna kindly donated to the Lodge.
The photo below shows of a few members of the Lodge and Lorna presenting the cheque. Lorna was then treated to lunch which was followed by a 60 year certificate presentation to Norman Sherwood accompanied by his family who were all long standing friends of Lorna. All in all a great day.
The Old Schoolhouse Larder is a Tenterden based registered charity supporting vulnerable families with children who are finding it difficult to provide meals every day. Open weekly, families are able to choose a top-up selection of nonperishable groceries and household & hygiene products. Vouchers allowing families to select fruit & vegetables from the Tenterden
Friday Market and from the Market Square Farm Butcher are also available.
The Old Schoolhouse Larder
If you would like to support the Old Schoolhouse Larder please set up a Standing Order so that basic non-perishable foodstuffs can be purchased to stock the shelves in the Larder at EC30 (EC30 Wellbeing Centre & Community Cafe) Recreation Ground Road, Tenterden.
ANY regular Standing Order commitment you can make (even £2 a month), no matter how small makes a REAL difference to our ability to keep the larder stocked.
