TLC rushed to A & E at the Hythe Venetian Fete
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, a dedicated team of Group 6 Masons collaborated with the TLC Appeal to make a memorable appearance at the historic Hythe Venetian Fete.
Building on the success of their previous entries in 2017 and 2022, the group aimed to once again spotlight this worthy Masonic charity. This year’s float was designed as a hospital scene, complete with doctors nurses, and a patient.
As the float gracefully glided through the procession, our beloved TLC teddy ventured along the banks, accompanied by enthusiastic TLC helpers. They engaged with the community by raising awareness of the charity’s mission, distributing informational leaflets, and gifting TLC teddies to young children and babies they encountered along the way—an initiative that not only captured interest but brought immense joy to the participants and onlookers alike.
The delight on the faces of the children as they received their soft companions was a heartwarming testament to the impact of the TLC Appeal, reinforcing the essential role this charity plays in the lives of many. The float participants actively joined in the spirit of giving, ensuring that smiles were abundant as they handed out teddies to the little ones on the banks of the Hythe canal.
The night not only gave joy to the children but also served a greater purpose, hoping to raise crucial funds and awareness for this exceptional cause, as well as for Freemasonry itself.
Gratitude is extended to everyone who contributed to the float’s construction and those who helped
on the day of the event. Special thanks go to our two skilled boatmen who expertly navigated the route, and of course, to all
the Group 6 lodges and companies who sponsored the float. Their support, along with the efforts of our building team and the TLC Appeal, made this event a resounding success. Looking ahead, plans are already underway for the 2026 Venetian Fete, where the theme will once again align with raising awareness for the TLC Appeal.
