Saturday 7th May saw the second time the EKLBB team had run their introduction to Golf Day at the glorious North Foreland Golf Club in Broadstairs. 14 Members booked In for the event and started mixing and getting to know each other over bacon rolls and coffee.
Collecting their equipment, they assembled onto the putting green where they were first taught how to putt. This involved instruction on the basics and then to put some into practise with some fun and games.
Next, they split into two groups and were shown how the intricacies of chipping and techniques on how to get their ball from around the green to be close to the hole. They were also taken to the driving range where they were shown the basics of a good connection and how to drive the ball further.
At 3pm, they assembled on the first tee of the Northcliffe course. This is a gentle introduction to golf and allows them to try their newfound skills. However, it wasn’t long before they were all asking for lessons on how to get out of bunkers!
The winner for the day was Paul Parker, (Pictured with Vice Chairman of the East Kent Light Blues) going round the course in a gross 75 shots. Urgently claiming he had never won any sporting trophy in his life; he was heard calling his wife and asking her to urgently clear a space on their mantlepiece!
Other awards were given for 2nd & 3rd Place along with awards for nearest the pin on the 5th & 18th Hole.
There was also an award for the “Most golf played” on the day.
To save blushes, we’ve pictured all the recipients together and who were Steve Quayle, Joseph Ezenwoke, Paul Parker & David Lanckmans
