LEARNING NEVER ENDS
We welcome WBro Steven Salisbury for this months education brief.
Educational opportunities continue to be at the forefront of the UGLE strategy & an integral cog in the Members’ Pathway. Solomon remains the largest single educational resource at our disposal and continues to be updated and extended as discussion and experience of using it guide us on our journey. The engagement of all is a real challenge and Solomon embraces the complexity of this by using a module-based approach with several units in each module. Badges for successful completion of each unit have been implemented and proved popular among newer brethren particularly. Completion of all the modules can represent approximately 150 hours of study and is a wonderful achievement. Solomon should be seen as a trusty walking stick rather than a pair of crutches. The journey itself is the important feature & how we utilise our resources and personal development the key.
In East Kent we are developing a broad range of opportunities to explore from stand-alone performances to group delivery to individual research. Last year a series of webinars on a wide variety of subjects generated clearer understanding and an added dimension to the normal progress of Lodge business. Feedback received has driven our planning for this year and the calendar of events can be found here Events – East Kent Freemasons. Bookings will be open shortly.
The Demonstration of the First Degree is popular and the pauses for commentary represent an excellent opportunity for newer members to learn & make sense of why we do things and a reminder to more experienced of what it felt like. Do please make an effort to attend if you can.
Live seminars return with the Preparation for the Master’s Chair and a new one on Life after the Chair for those who have just finished their tenure.
Sharing good practice opportunities will appear as well as a Book of the Month recommendation for members interested in individual research.
A full programme is offered and we hope something to engage everyone. All online sessions are recorded and uploaded on YP2 where notes will also be available to supplement seminars.
So wherever your interests lie we hope to provide meaningful materials & helpful hints to steer you on your journey and if we haven’t delivered it for you yet, let us know & we’ll find out with you or better still explore with you.
The events calendar link will be updated and if you are interested in becoming involved in attending, delivering material or writing about please do contact me on education@ekprovince.co.uk
