Stanley Wykeham Lodge, meeting in Paddock Wood,  was founded in 1948, and marked its 500th meeting with a special celebration on 18th September.

The meeting was honoured by the presence of Peter David Williams, Deputy Provincial Grand Master [DPGM] in Charge, escorted by no fewer than seven Provincial Officers.  One of the Provincial Grand Stewards was Steve Spicer, who is himself a member of the Lodge.  The attendance of the DPGM was a special honour, as he had visited the Lodge as recently as June this year, when he presented a 60th anniversary certificate to  Owen Nye.

During the afternoon the Worshipful Master., Rob Byford, invited Brother Owen to take the Chair, and he, with senior Brethren  Alan Milsted temporarily acting as Senior Warden and John Sprackling as Junior Warden presented their fascinating reminiscences of the Lodge in times past.  More than 60 Brethren in the Temple were highly entertained by the stories of how the Lodge was conducted fifty years ago.

The DPGM congratulated the Lodge on its success, following which John Sprackling presented a magnificent Tercentenary Jewel to be worn on the collar of Masters of the Lodge in perpetuity.

At the Festive Board which followed the Brethren enjoyed a five course meal accompanied by wine and port and were presented with a beautiful hard-covered Souvenir Summons, an engraved key ring with a bottle-opener fob, and were encouraged to take away the place mat and coaster embossed with the square & compasses, specially made for the occasion by the Lodge’s Immediate Past Master,  Steve Pilcher.
