Portcullis Visit Portcullis

On Saturday 11th June, Portcullis Lodge 8268 in Gravesend held their Installation meeting at the Masonic Hall.

A few members of Portcullis Lodge 2038, in the Province of Somerset, had headed East to Gravesend in the Province of Kent, to visit, and join in the newly adopted mission to fraternally unite the four Portcullis Lodges in the UK.

We all had a fabulous time together and as you can see from the photos, WM WBro. Neill McGrath brought his 360 cam with him to record the visit and our temple.

Down to Lodge business, we conducted both a Proclamation of WM W.Bro. Peter Marsh (who is staying the chair for a further year), and a Third degree ceremony with the Walking Charge.
Everyone really enjoyed each others company at the Festive Board which was followed by the traditional visit to the cellar of the building which houses our associated Micropub, The Three Pillars.

This is the visitor’s second visit to a Portcullis, the first being Portcullis Lodge 6672 in the Province of Berkshire.
The plan is to bring together up all four Portcullis Lodges, uniting for the Installation ceremony at Portcullis Lodge 6085 at Great Queen Street on 23rd September, hopefully seeing all installing offices being taken by members of other Portcullis Lodges.

This has already been promoted by Somerset Province and the aim is to possibly get an article in FMT at some stage.

All Lodges hope to maintain visits to each other to improve visitor numbers and expand on our social circles. Indeed we’ve already been invited to join the Somerset guys “Formation Drinking team”!
