The Masonic Fishing Season Begins at Horsham Lakes.

Finally the day arrived for the first Masonic Fishing Charity event of the year, eagerly anticipated by all  the Anglers and Helpers involved in this fabulous event. The usual, very welcome, bacon rolls and tea/coffee prepared by Ian Gwalter and his team, were consumed and we awaited the arrival of the Students.
The first bus arrived around 9.45am.  Students and Anglers names were called and we set off to our pitches with excitement. The next schools arrived soon after and everyone was paired up.

It wasn’t long before the whoops could be heard all around the lake as fish were caught, no doubt down to  the expertise of the Students … with a little help from the Anglers!!!  Everyone landed fish to the relief of all.

It seems no sooner than we start, we are called for Lunch, which is always the way as the two hours fishing just fly by.  Hands were cleaned and everyone was in line for burgers or hot dogs (or both if very hungry)  Once everyone was fed and watered, it was back out for another hour or so in an attempt to catch even bigger fish!

Then came the presentation with with an introduction by our Chairman, David Alexander, who handed over to APGM Mark Costelloe and after a few words of thanks to everyone involved, he invited each of the students to receive a medal and certificate for “Angling Ability” which received lots of loud applause and cheers, the excitement clearly evident.

And so another successful day came to and end, the equipment was cleared away and everyone said their goodbyes but all looking forward to the next event at a new venue for the East Kent Masonic Fishing Charity at Cottington Lakes, nr Deal on Thursday 15th June.
