Masonic Fishing Charity Event – Horsham Lakes, Upchurch

Once again we finished our Masonic Fishing Charity Season at Longshaw Lakes, Sturry, Canterbury. The weather was bright and dry after the recent downpours, so it boded well for the day. The students arrived and everyone was paired up and off we set to conquer the leviathans of the deep, well carp around 4lb in weight !!!

Time flew by with everyone catching fish from all corners of this pretty Lake, so Lunch arrived all too soon.

On this occasion, we were privileged to have the company of the very dapper Past Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Roger Waltham who presented the Medals and Certificates after some kind words of encouragement to both the Students and the Charity itself, later on in the day our Chairman received the following from Roger:

“It was indeed a rewarding day and I was particularly taken with the way in which Russell gained so much from his experience. He was initially shut off from everything and everybody but, by the end of the event, was communicating positively with just about everyone present.
I even received the slight hint of a hug when I hung the medal on him.

Please extend my warmest good wishes to the MFC team and Casters, along with my heartfelt congratulations to all for such a meaningful and helpful contribution to our challenged communities around the Province. It makes me even prouder than ever to be a Freemason.

What a fabulous end to the season, with our sincere thanks to the Owners of Longshaw Lakes for again allowing us to hold this wonderful event on their waters.
