Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Masonic Hall Raises Over £350
Another Bradstow Boost to Charities
This is the second time within a month that members of the Bradstow Lodge 2778 have supported their Worshipful Master John Nicholls, donating their hard-earned funds to local charities.
Members of the Bradstow Lodge 2448 Broadstairs, joined John and Lodge Charity Steward Nick Baker when presenting cheques to two very deserving Broadstairs charities. Thanet Disabled Riding Centre (TDRC) and the Foreland Fields, specialist school. (Both registered charities)
The presentations took place on Friday 7th November 2025 at the TDRC premises within the grounds of Maurice House British Legion convalescence home in Broadstairs. They were joined by staff and students of Foreland Fields.
With a chance to mingle, swap stories, and ask questions together with an opportunity to pet the animals, a sincere and at times emotional presentation took place.
Each charity received £3,225 making a total of £6450. The money was raised during John’s year as Worshipful Master from the Lodge’s social functions.
After the presentations children, staff and supporters were treated to a small buffet in celebrations of the generosity of the Bradstow Lodge and its members.
A really useful few hours in the company of dedicated workers and volunteers giving an opportunity and our finding out what the charities provide and similarly how we can support their individual causes.
These donations were the culmination of John’s Year and in total, through social functions and donations, the Lodge has supported local charities to the tune of £7,650
Pictured are John and Lexy Jackson of Foreland Fields and Holly Thurman-Newell of TDRC along with a big thank you from the charities.
John is remaining in post for another year, so ‘Watch this Space’!

Thanet Disabled Riding Centre (TDRC)
Thanet Disabled Riding Centre is an independent, nonprofit organization located in Broadstairs. With the fantastic support from our team of volunteers, we can cater to 40 riders a week.
The Centre has now been running for 47 years and is currently home to four ponies. Three of whom are in full time work and our other one is a 34 year old, retired, tea drinking Shetland! We are a full time charity which takes £150 per day to run, so we appreciate any support we receive.
