Julian Friel storms to victory in GGD Bowl at Kings Hill

Winner Julian Friel receives the Trophy from Geoffrey Dearing.

Whilst the worlds golfing focus in July may have in the main been focussed on the 152nd open championship at Royal Troon, the East Kent Masonic Golf Association held their 6th event of the season which was for the prestigious Geoffrey Gordon Dearing Bowl.

Kings Hill Golf club provided the setting for the golfers competing for the trophy which was donated by and is named after Geoffrey Gordon Dearing, East Kent’s former Provincial Grand Master and a Past President of the board of General purposes at Grand Lodge.  The event symbolises not just golfing excellence but also camaraderie and sportsmanship among the Masonic brethren.

Established in 1996, King Hill boasts an 18-hole, links-style course which is known for its undulating terrain and meticulously maintained greens and so provided a fitting backdrop for such a significant event. The course’s demanding nature tested the skills of all participants, making Friel’s accomplishment even more impressive.
