Honor Oak Lodge

Last Saturday (11th March 2023), 120 people turned out for a fantastic ladies’ night at the Franklin Rooms in Gillingham, rounding off what has been a great year at Honor Oak Lodge for our Master, Phil Radley and his partner, Carrie Cuthbert.  Each year, the Master of the lodge organises a dinner and dance to enable the members to honour the ladies in their lives, and particularly to thank their significant other for their support.

The event was also in aid of the Ronald McDonald Foundation.  Ronald McDonald House Charities keeps families together so children in hospital can get the love and comfort they need.  The charity provides ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital; somewhere free to stay for as long as they need to.

Phil said, “This charity has been close to the hearts of our dear friends Allan and Janine and their little hero Rueben who was born premature at just 25 weeks.  He’s had to spend time in various specialist hospitals across London, including Great Ormand Street and Kings College.  As a result, Allan and Janine have spent a considerable time in Camberwell House near Kings College Hospital in London.  This is the particular Ronald McDonald House we have concentrated all our fund-raising efforts on during the evening.”.

The event raised £1,545.00 on the night, all of which will go straight to the Ronald McDonald Foundation.

Rueben is now 4 years old and he’s currently in Great Ormond Street Hospital with an infection.  We’re pleased to say that he’s doing well and everyone at Honor Oak is rooting for him.
