Fleur de Lis 8969 supports Maidstone Scouts
On 7th May WBro Mark Costelloe APGM accompanied by the current Master WBro Brian Ball and other members of Fleur de Lis Lodge attended at the opening of the refurbished Toilet Block at Maidstone Scouts Hamlet Wood camp site, Stockett Lane, East Farleigh, Maidstone.
They joined Brethren representing the Mark Benevolent Fund, who were the major individual donor of £14000, along with Robinson Mark Lodge No 255, and Fleur de Lis Lodge No 8969 all of whom donated to the refurbishment fund.
The project was planned in early 2021, originally to simply change the fuel for heating / hot water system to a central gas tank from multiple gas bottles. It was expanded to “ total refurbishment “, following a review of requirements and successful fund raising, in 2021, and completed in 2023 at a total cost of £35000. The works , apart from specialist services, were carried out by volunteers from the local scouting community.
In the attached photographs the commemorative plaque is in a temporary position to accommodate the number of people attending on Big Help Out Day at Hamlet Wood as part of the celebrations for the coronation of King Charles 3rd .
EAST KENT FREEMASONRY
We are a unique members’ organisation which has thrived for over 300 years. Having no political or religious affiliations, we comprise members of all ages, races, religions, cultures and backgrounds. We gather in our individual Lodges throughout the country where we have ceremonial traditions which encourage us both to be more tolerant and respectful and actively to fulfil our civic and charitable responsibilities; we also make time to eat, drink and meet together, and form lifelong friendships.

MARK MASONRY
The Degree of Mark Master Mason is open to all Master Masons. The ceremony, in which a Brother is ‘advanced’, can be said to comprise two Degrees; the first in which he is acknowledged as a Mark Man, followed by the second where he becomes a Mark Master Mason. The Mark referred to in its title takes its name from the mark or symbol with which the stonemason identified his work and can still be found in many cathedrals and important buildings.
