The East Kent Masonic Golf Association has always been heavily involved, like all our Masonic Sports associations, in Charitable events.

So when one of our members,  Roy Croucher, of St Mary’s Gillingham Green lodge, brought to our attention the issues surrounding the 1st Snodland Scout Group, and their proposed building of a new scout hut, we just had to help.

The scout group have been left nearly £50,000 out of pocket over building work on their new Scout hut when the firm helping to construct it collapsed.

The Scout Group, who had been raising money for around 20 years, had put plans in place for a new Scout hut after they demolished the original scout hut, close to Clock Tower Mews, in 2014.

But when Storm Gareth blew down the partly-erected frame in 2019, the trouble started.

Being touched by the story, Captain for the EKMGA, Derek Reed, suggested that he would fundraise at our next event.   Following some liquid lubrications, our captain encouraged the members to donate their hard earned cash for various misdemeanors on bad play on the course.

The Event raised £182.86 which has been donated to the groups fundraising activities.
