East Kent Golfers regain the Silver Salver

With the last fixture at Dale Hill being called off due to adverse weather the East Kent Masonic Golf team were keen to get back to winning ways in this keenly fought contest with our neighbours in the Province of West Kent.

Redlibbets Golf club was the venue chosen for this match and despite the road to the golf club being unexpectedly closed causing a rather tense diversion through very narrow lanes, everyone managed to make it on time.

Kent Silver Salver presented to both Provinces by Bro Richard Lukes in association with WBro CJ Smith, PPJGW & Bro PA Kelly.  The event was first contested in 1991 and this was the 26th time it has been contested with East Kent only having only won on 9 previous occasions.

The usual banter and rivalry commenced as both teams took to the first tee and an excellent days golf was had by all.

After the event, the members from West Kent hastily changed into their traditional jackets & ties, whereas the Kent team remained in their golfing attire and there followed by a light meal and presentation ceremony.

The traditional fine bucket was passed amongst all the players and £122.06 was collected which would be split between the two provinces teams who are carrying out the longest day, 72 hole challenge in aid of the 2025 & 2026 festivals of each province.
More on the 2025 Festival can be found on our festival page here.
