Spotlight on Determination

East Kent's Own Champion in the London Marathon

James Kent and John Sharman of Gore Court Lodge No.8231 write:

Cymon Williams is a valued member of Gore Court Lodge and is Charity Coordinator for Group 3. He’s the sort of chap who loves a challenge, successfully completing the London Marathon on the 21st April 2024 in just over four hours.

But Cymon wasn’t just running for his own pleasure. He had set out with a clear objective – to try and raise £1,000 for the Rose Road Association, a Southampton-based charity providing a range of care and support services to over 300 children and young adults with complex physical and learning disabilities, and their families.

In the summer of 2022 Cymon’s wife Kirsty sadly lost her cousin Bradley. They had been lucky to have shared an amazing twenty years with him. They were blessed to be part of his life and recall with honour and affection his ability to ‘light up’ his family.  During those twenty years the fantastic team at the Rose Road Association provided support to Marcus and Lisa (Bradley’s Mum and Dad) and the rest of the family. In recognition of this, Cymon ran the London Marathon to raise money for the RRA to help them continue to support for other families.

Did Cymon reach his target? He smashed it – raising over £1,500 for the Rose Road Association.  His whole family and all the Members of Gore Court Lodge are very proud of him.
