This is a report from our Provincial Grand Master, Neil Hamilton Johnstone. Its purpose is to inform us all of the excellent community help that we as individuals, our Lodges and Chapters and our Province have been able to provide during this challenging COVID–19 pandemic.
Both Freemasons and the public have benefitted from our help. They have supported us in our efforts to bring about a difference, no matter how big or small, during these tremendously difficult times.
These efforts are generated and spearheaded through our current 2025 Festival, which in turn supports the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). This could not be done without your fantastic support.
As for the future, you will be pleased to know that the Group Chairmen have taken on the challenge of becoming ‘Ambassadors’ for the 2025 Festival for their respective Groups. They will help to:
- encourage and support various local fun activities
- report on and help identify good news for both internal and external consumption
- drive forward the ongoing success of the 2025 Festival and thus continue to support the MCF and all our members.
We have come a long way since the original lockdown began on the 16th March 2020, when Matt Hancock, the Health and Social Care Secretary, told the House of Commons that all unnecessary social contact should cease. There have been many changes of tack since then, and doubtless there will be many more to come. Unfortunately, our meetings continue to be affected – but we can still adhere in practical ways to our great underlying principles of Faith, Hope and Charity.
This COVID-19 News Special brings together these elements and provides an archive for future generations of what we have done so far. Now we must concentrate and renew our focus on the future – starting today.
So: what are YOU going to be doing?
