Charity has always been a core principle of Freemasonry. Individuals can make an important contribution at local, national, and global levels by giving both their time and money.
Freemasonry is one of the largest charitable givers in the country, contributing £42m* to deserving causes in 2020 alone. Freemasons do not only donate money – more than 18.5 million hours* of volunteer work was undertaken by Freemasons in 2020.

kindness has always been a core principle of freemasonry. members give time and money to help others, whether locally, nationally or globally to help make a difference. it may be to help realise a dream for someone, caring for older freemasons, volunteering on local community projects, making donations to other UK charities or responding to an international disaster appeal. today we are very proud of our achievements and the many thousands of people that we have helped. want to get involved?
The Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons Charity commenced its activities on the 12th February 2014.
“The aim of the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons’ Charity is to invest in a brighter future. It does this by helping the vulnerable and disadvantaged in our local communities by providing funding opportunities. In so doing it helps these local charities to continue their excellent work and make a difference to people’s lives.” Quote from Neil Hamilton Johnstone, Provincial Grand Master of East Kent.
