East Kent Freemasons
About Freemasonry
Freemasonry is the oldest fraternal organization in the world. Though its origins can be traced to the stonemasons and cathedral builders of Medieval times, Freemasonry remains a vital force in the daily lives of millions of men across the globe.
Through a series of degrees and ceremonies, the values of Freemasonry are passed from generation to generation, Mason to Mason, in a timeless and tireless effort to make good men better. These degrees provide a framework that affects every aspect of modern life and are based on the values of brotherly love, relief, and truth.
Every year in virtually every city and town across the UK, thousands of men join the ranks of Freemasonry. Men of honour and integrity. Of charity and obligation. Each with a vow to be the best they can be. To be more than just a man. To be a Mason.

Joining a Lodge in East Kent
One of the biggest misconceptions about Freemasonry, and there are many, is that you have to be asked to join. This is totally untrue, all you need to do is, JUST ASK. Click to start your masonic journey.

Freemasonry is not only for men, we have two female Grand Lodges, which operate along side our United Grand Lodge. Woman Freemasons have been meeting for over 100 years, and often work along side us in community and charity projects. MISSION STATEMENT
WHAT WE ARE (PURPOSE)
We are a unique members’ organisation that has thrived for over 300 years. Having no political or religious affiliations, we comprise members of all ages, races, religions, cultures and backgrounds. We meet in our individual Lodges throughout the country where we have ceremonial traditions which encourage us both to be more tolerant and respectful and actively to fulfil our civic and charitable responsibilities; we also make time to eat, drink and meet together, and form lifelong friendships.
WHAT WE AIM FOR (VISION)
To attract those from all backgrounds and walks of life, enabling them to develop into more thoughtful and confident people. To inspire and challenge them to practise the core values we celebrate – Integrity, Friendship, Respect, and Service – in their private and public lives. To cement our reputation as a force for good in our communities and society at large and as a thriving organisation that people aspire to join.
HOW WE WILL ACHIEVE THIS (MISSION)
Over the next 7 years, we will enhance our reputation as a thriving organisation that people aspire to join and broaden our membership across all age groups.
