128 East Kent Freemasons Travel to United Grand Lodge
There is no sound more gratifying than that of the Grand Temple organ and the throng of a completely full hall of freemasons from all over the country and indeed parts of the world, proudly singing ‘God Save the Queen’.
On the 11th of September 2019, 128 members of East Kent travelled to United Grand Lodge in Great Queen Street, London to enjoy Quarterly Communications with the Most Worshipful Pro Grand Master, Peter Lowndes presiding.
In his address to the meeting, Peter Lowndes spoke of team work , changing times, membership and greatly improved communications. The full address can be found at the following link – https://www.freemasonrytoday.com/ugle-sgc/ugle/tag/Quarterly%20Communication
A talk was also given by Right Worshipful Bro Stephen Blank, Provincial Grand Master for Cheshire and Chairman of the Hermes ‘To Be’ working party.
Project Hermes which will revolutionise the work of the Lodge Secretary and Chapter Scribe Ezra through the introduction of electronic media. The aspiration is to reduce burdensome bureaucracy, reduce waste and effort and to increase workflows and efficiencies.
The full talk can also be found at the same link above.
This was a special Quarterly Communications for the members of East Kent who attended to support our very own Provincial Grand Master, Neil Hamilton Johnstone. And of course it was a very good opportunity for younger members to see United Grand Lodge for the first time and Quarterly Communications.
Neil said ‘it is very heart-warming to see so many members of East Kent here today supporting our Province. We are the second largest Province in attendance today and I am really grateful for everyone who has taken the time to travel to London to be part of this great occasion. It appeared that everyone enjoyed themselves and I hope that we can repeat the opportunity for more Brethren to be part of Quarterly Communications in the future’.
After the meeting, most members carried on to have great fun by sampling the delights of superb food in the surroundings of Covent Garden. And I dare say some wine and maybe a good ale or two were reluctantly tasted to finish the day.
All those who are current Wardens, Masters, Past Masters and above are entitled to attend Grand Lodge on Quarterly Communication dates and Master Masons can attend by speaking to the Provincial Office to obtain an entry ticket.
