The Provincial FaceBook Group recently signed up its 1000th member - Paul Spencer - and the milestone was marked by Assistant Provincial Grand Master Roger Waltham who welcomed Paul into the group.
Paul became a member of Castle Lodge No1436 in Sandgate on the 28th October 2013 where he is, at present, the Inner Guard.
Following in the footsteps of his Father and Grandfather, who were both Freemasons, Paul said he joined the Group to find out what is happening around the Province, adding, “It’s good to know what is going on in the area, and you never know what you might learn”.
Interestingly for us all, twenty-six year-old Paul is a stonemason by trade and works for Cleverley and Spencer Stonemasons, based in Dover. He lives in Folkestone with his wife and two daughters, with a third child on the way.
In welcoming Paul to the group, Roger Waltham said: “It is fantastic to witness this very significant milestone in the evolving use of of social media to communicate with one another across our fraternity. Our horizons are much wider than ever before – could you imagine, before the creation of this Group, that Brethren from right across the whole Province would be able to engage with one another in a mixture of care, support, the sharing of points of view, educating each other, and some friendly banter?”
Roger went on to thank all members of the group for making it such a success, and consistently increasing its value. He finished by saying: “Let us continue to take this concept forward, evolving it for the benefit of Freemasonry, “from generation to generation”.”
