On Wednesday the 19th of September 2018 saw the opening of the ‘Foley Centre’ at the Rare Breeds Centre in Ashford. You will recall that last year, as part of the 300 Years celebrations, we were asked to vote for various charity’s in the Province of East Kent. Canterbury Oast Trust received the most votes and received a cheque for £25,000 from the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF). This was presented at the Provincial Grand Masters Charity Awards in November last year.
This money helped in part, to finance the ‘Foley Centre’, a brand new computer skills college that took many months to build. Its purpose is to help create brighter lives for adults with learning difficulties. Canterbury Oast Trust (COT) is a charity supporting people with learning disabilities in Kent and East Sussex. They offer a high quality person centred approach through accommodation, support and training options. They also run a number of enterprises that support their work including the Rare Breeds Centre near Ashford.
The build was filmed using a time lapse camera is now condensed into a short video – https://youtu.be/xh5e2yNQIJE
