Sports Association

East Kent Freemasons have a Sports Association that gives both members and non-members an opportunity to participate in or support the sports that they enjoy.

An annual dinner with a sporting personality is held to celebrate the previous year’s sporting achievements and trophies are presented to the winners in each section. The opportunity is also taken to raise funds for charity by auctioning some sporting memorabilia.

The sports sections currently under the umbrella of the association are as follows:-

The Province of East Kent Clay Pigeon Shooting Club was founded in 2008 by an initial group of eight members who took part in a shoot at Hawley Shooting Ground, near Dartford.

Membership has grown since then and the club meets once a month at one of the shooting grounds in Kent. The club also takes part in a wide range of competitions inside and outside the county.

The East Kent Masonic Golfing Association was formed in 2011 in order to promote the golfing interests of freemasons within the Province of East Kent.

The East Kent Provincial Cricket Team was launched in 1999 following a challenge from West Kent to raise funds for a charity they were supporting at that time.

Since then the team has reformed and now seeks to become more successful in their matches against West Kent and to organise some other fixtures.

The East Kent Rugby Section was formed in 2011 to bring together all those with an interest in Rugby Union.

In its first year it attracted 50 rugby union fans and, together with their guests, they have enjoyed several outings to watch rugby at Twickenham.

Other Sports – Some other fledgling sections are under development, for example:-

Croquet – an occasional group that play intermittently and compete for the Provincial Croquet Mallet.
