East Kent and West Kent Annual Cricket Match 2013

The Willow Strikes Ball at Last!

The game of cricket arranged and played at Leeds Private ground on Sunday 23rd of June, between East Kent and West Kent, was a welcome relief having suffered two cancellations last season because of rain. The two sides agreed a 35 over each, and other game rules were applied to ensure that every player would have a chance to enjoy a game within the spirit of the game and Freemasonry.

West Kent batted first and scored a handsome 179 runs from their 35 overs, and after a splendid tea, East Kent scored 170 from their 35 overs thus giving West Kent a victory of just 9 runs. Although the weather was again unpleasant and not well supported by spectators, the Tombola organised and run jointly by WBro. Dave Warton, committee secretary for East Kent, and WBro. Bill Taylor, Vice President East Kent, raised £95 for each Province to donate to their respective 2014 and 2015 festivals.

Thanks go to all who took part in the afternoon’s enjoyment.
