Worshipful Bro. Duncan Andrew Rouse, ProvGAlm
Duncan was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1953 shortly before his family moved to the South of England. He grew up in Hertfordshire and Kent. Upon leaving school and college he embarked on a career in banking, initially working for a merchant bank in the City of London and then for over forty years for a large Italian bank. Although predominantly based in London he travelled extensively in his work and spent a period of time in the 1980’s living and working in Italy. This period facilitated his fluency in the Italian language and engendered his love of Italy. For a few years prior to retiring in 2015 he also managed a financial company for the Bank in Dublin concurrently with his role in the London Branch of the Bank.
He has been married to Colleen, an artist and creative arts therapist, for over thirty-five years and they have two children both in their early thirty’s; a daughter – a marketing manager for a UK media group, and a son – a design engineer for an American Corporation specialising in motion and control technologies.
In his spare time Duncan enjoys gardening and exhibiting his flowers and vegetables in horticultural shows. He is also a National Vegetable Society panel judge and a committee member of the Kent Federation of Horticultural Societies. He loves travelling, especially to Italy, listening to music and attending concerts. He also enjoys cooking, dining out with friends, playing Bridge and driving his old classic car.
Duncan was initiated into the Old Cranbrookian Lodge No. 6877 in 1995 becoming Worshipful Master in 2004 and again in 2009. In 2012 he was appointed Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies. He is also a member of Crane Lodge No 2660 and the Crane Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1157 of which he was Worshipful Master in 2015/16.
