A Seminar for the Freemasons Located in Region 1
Following the introduction earlier this year of the eight regional groups in East Kent, a seminar was held on 21st May for the twenty-one Lodges and seven Royal Arch Chapters meeting at the three Masonic Centres located in region 1.
Forty six Brethren and Companions regularly meeting in the Rochester, Hoo & Gravesend Centres gathered together on Saturday morning at the Gundulph Square Masonic Centre in Rochester.
After a splendid cooked breakfast, a thought-provoking presentation entitled ‘Promoting Mutual Support’ was given by Philip South, Chairman of the Provincial Group 1 Committee.
His talk outlined the rationale behind the establishment of the recently introduced Provincial Group Structure and the varied challenges faced by all of us in recruiting and retaining our respective memberships. Philip is also chairman of the Provincial Communications Board and has much experience in the area of membership attraction. A full two-way discussion ensued and a variety of possibilities to meet the challenges were suggested.
Also present was the group’s Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Peter Hagger, who contributed to the discussions and gave the closing remarks at the end of the seminar.
