On Friday 13th October 2017 Pentangle Lodge No 1174, which was consecrated on 2nd July 1867, celebrated its 150th Anniversary.
The Head of East Kent Freemasons, Provincial Grand Master Geoffrey Dearing, the Brethren of the lodge and forty-one guests and visitors were present for the Sesquicentenary Meeting in the Gundulph Masonic Centre, Rochester.
They were thoroughly entertained by the Lodge Night 1759 Demonstration Team, seen in this photograph shortly before entering the Lodge. The team gave an amusing, educational and informative rendition of a typical period-costumed 1759 Ceremony of Initiation. George Singleton of the Pentangle Lodge, gamely volunteered to act as ‘The Candidate’. A substantial donation was later made to the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons Charity.
Afterwards, the assembled Brethren enjoyed a sumptuous seven-course gourmet Festive Board Banquet which was described by one Brother as “the best meal I’ve ever had in a Masonic Centre”.
The Lodge had previously held an extremely successful Dinner Dance on Saturday 1st July 2017 to celebrate the Lodge’s Consecration and Toasted the Lodge’s Founding Brethren at one minute past midnight on 2nd July 2017.
