Kent Stewards Lodge No.5866 celebrates 200th Meeting Assistant Grand Master "Delighted with progress of the universities scheme"
The Kent Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No.5866 was very pleased to receive RWBro David Williamson, the Assistant Grand Master, to celebrate their two-hundredth meeting on Saturday 16th May 2009.
RWBro Williamson is the instigator and champion of the scheme to establish better links between Freemasonry and England's universities. To mark the occasion of the Assistant Grand Master's visit, WBro John Grumbridge PSGD, PAPGM was asked to present a talk about the way the universities scheme has been set up in the Province of East Kent.
There were well in excess of one hundred people present, and WBro Grumbridge took the very attentive members and guests through the fascinating story of how the scheme was established; from a chance comment made by RWBro Williamson to Lord Northampton, through the request of our Provincial Grand Master that WBRo Grumbridge should orchestrate and direct the implementation of the scheme in East Kent, right up to the visit of 39 Romanian Freemasons to see 20 year-old Bro Adrian Ruse, a student at Kent University in Canterbury, being Passed to the Second degree in St Augustine Lodge. The Assistant Grand Master took the opportunity to thank WBro Grumbridge for his hard work and commitment to making the scheme so successful in our Province, and said that he is "absolutely delighted" with the progress of the scheme in East Kent. He also joined WBro Grumbridge in praising the bravery of St Augustine Lodge in taking the project on, and their continued commitment to and support of it.
A vote of thanks to WBro Grumbridge was proposed by the Senior Warden and heartily endorsed by all present.
RWBro Williamson joined the Worshipful Master, Members and Guests for lunch afterwards.
