Worshipful Brother Geoff Ivory receives his 50 year Long Service Certificate
Geoffrey Charles Ivory was born in 1931 and in 1965, he was initiated in St Michael’s Lodge No 1273 in Sittingbourne. Now in his 84th year, he has joined that select group of Freemasons that have enjoyed 50 years as active members of the Craft.
In 1992 Geoff joined the Stour Lodge No 2305 in Ashford and he remains a subscribing member of both lodges. He is also a Royal Arch Companion and was exalted in St Michael’s Chapter No 1273 in 1972. Geoff continues to be active and currently serves as Almoner in each lodge and chapter; in fact he has been the chapter’s Almoner since 1983.
Geoff was Master of St Michael’s Lodge in 1971 and again in 1987 and has been a long-standing Trustee of the Lodge.
He was also Master of the Stour Lodge in 2000 and is currently Third Principal in St Michael’s Chapter.
To mark this special achievement the Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Province of East Kent, Very Worshipful Brother Roger Odd, visited St Michael’s Lodge on Wednesday 11th February 2015, one day after Geoff’s 50th anniversary, and presented him with a Long Service Certificate in recognition of his service to Freemasonry.
Outside of Freemasonry, Geoff has numerous interests but the two closest to his heart are the Spastics Society (for personal reasons) and birds (the feathered variety); he is a very successful breeder of budgerigars.
