EKMGA Captain, Keith Hodgson presenting the East Kent/Sussex Challenge Trophy to Sussex Captain, Ivor Bennett

On a beautifully prepared Mid-Sussex golf course, in spring-like weather, the golfers of East Kent lost only their fourth match in twenty-two outings to the host province of Sussex. Although the eight players from East Kent had prepared for a match-play competition, they lost to the twelve players from Sussex by 32.44 to 29.50 under what can only be described as the golfing equivalent of cricket’s Duckworth/Lewis scoring system overlaid with an “I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue” Mornington Crescent variation. East Kent Captain, Keith Hodgson, who generally is quite good at sums, congratulated Sussex on their success adding “my head hurts”!
