At a recent meeting of Graveney Court Lodge in Whitstable, a £1000 donation was given to a worthy charity. The cheque was presented to Nikie Jervis, Patient Support Manager of the NET Patient Foundation, to support their valuable work. The presentation was made after the meeting at the Festive Board in the presence of lodge members, their wives and guests.
The NET Patient Foundation is dedicated to providing support and information to people affected by neuroendocrine cancers. It was formed in 2006 and has Charity Commission status, with its offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. It is a small charity and Nikie is one of only three full time members of staff. Nonetheless, it is the only charity in the UK & Ireland providing this support.
Neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) are rare tumours (abnormal growths) that can occur in the cells of the neuroendocrine system. These are tumours can be malignant (cancerous) or benign (non-cancerous) and often – but not always – grow slowly.

The charity had come to the notice of the lodge as the late William Cameron had been a sufferer. He was a Past Master of the lodge and had received invaluable support from Nikie Jervis.
The money was raised last year at the Lodge’s Ladies Festival when Anthony Westcott was the President.
