The Provincial Grand Charity Steward, Wayne Smith, is one of the trustees of the Cornwallis East Kent Freemasons’ Charity (CEKFC) and, in response to a number of frequently asked questions, he has asked for the following key points to be brought to everyone’s notice:-

Key Points

1. Brethren are involved in the decision making process and in the presentation of the awards.

Explanation:

This Charity belongs to the members of this Province. It is their Charity and so in consequence the Brethren are involved in the decision-making process – visiting the Charity or community project to ascertain what it is they need and, whenever it is possible, for the local Charity Steward, Almoner or Master of the Lodge to make the presentation of the award.

2.  The CEKFC offers Matched Funding of up to £250 per Lodge or Chapter.

Explanation:

If, for example, 4 Lodges meeting in one Centre decided to sponsor the same local charity for £250 each, an application could be made to the CEKFC for Matched Funding which would enable those local lodges to present a total of £2,000 to that local charity.

3. CEKFC is not asking for all of your charity giving. One raffle per year would assist.

Explanation:

CEKFC has given over £90,000 in its first year of operation. In order to enable us to continue helping those in need, the Charity needs regular support from Lodges, Chapters and individual Brethren. Could you please consider giving the proceeds from the raffle at your Installation or Christmas meeting to CEKFC?
