A Forties themed charity evening has raised over £900 for the Special Forces Association.
The event, organised by members of Minnis Bay Masonic Lodge in Birchington was supported by local freemasons and other members of the public, many of whom wore period costume.
Entertainment was provided by popular vocal group Hotsy Totsy. Formed in Hereford in 1999, the association represents all special forces groups and works to make sure fallen soldiers are remembered. The money raised will be used to support the Allied Special Forces Memorial Grove.
In addition, the lodge donated £50 to support the Air Cadets Thanet Squadron. Organiser John Marshall-Redding from the lodge commented, “It was an amazing evening and so much fun seeing so many people dressed in forties outfits. Hotsy Totsy were phenomenal and kept everyone entertained. “I’m so pleased we were able to make donations to both the Association and the Cadets. It’s our way of supporting those who have gone before and helping youngsters for the future.”
