John Kennett Baker, PGStB

John BakerBorn at Ruckinge on the edge of Romney Marsh in 1947, he just about qualifies to be a “Marshy”, he attended Maidstone Technical School (now Oakwood Grammar School) from 1958, leaving in 1964 to train as an engineer at CAV Ltd in Rochester. After serving a technician apprenticeship he worked as a Toolmaker before becoming an Instructor in their Training Centre. This was followed by a number of other roles in training and HR, leading to an appointment as Training Manager in 1986. He left Lucas in 1993 to become the Managing Director at KITA Ltd, an HR and training Consultancy based in Sittingbourne, and in 2000 he set up his own company – Stacks Consulting Ltd – an HR Consultancy working with a wide range of organisations in the public and private sector providing organisational and management development support, he has since retired but maintains an interest in the HR sector. He also has a number of roles in the local community including being President of the Sittingbourne and Milton Division of St John Ambulance, and Chairman of Swale Council for Voluntary Service. Before stepping down a few years ago he was a long standing Governor of the Robert Napier School in Gillingham, which is now part of an Academy Trust. He has also been President of the Rotary Club of Sittingbourne and Milton on two occasions.

Married to Maureen, they have 4 children and 5 Grandchildren, who between them, continue to take a considerable amount of their time (and money). Hobbies include, gardening, collecting toys, and playing golf when time permits, (which is very rarely!)



Initiated into the Per Mare Per Terram Lodge No 3609 on the 16th May 1987 and Worshipful Master in 1996, a member of Mid Kent Masters Lodge No 3173, the East Kent Scriveners lodge No 9622 and the Pentalpha Lodge of East Kent No 8535.


Exalted into the Per Mare Per Terram Chapter No 3609 on 11th July 1989 and First Principal in 2000, he is also a member of the East Kent Provincial Grand Stewards Chapter No 5866 and the East Kent First Principals Chapter No 3931, and will be their First Principal in 2016. He was promoted to Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals in 2016.

He is a Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden in the Mark and a member of a number of other Masonic Orders and Degrees.

He is also the Schools Liaison Officer for the East Kent Branch of the Masonic Fishing Charity and Chairman of Provincial Group 2.
