Family: Born in 1953. Married to Gill. Has a son in his late thirties who lives with his wife in Manchester, and a daughter, also in her thirties, who lives in Kent with her husband. Two Grandchildren and four grand-dogs! Three former stray cats who occasionally let him use the settee.

Sport: Founding Chairman of the Vice Presidents Association at Medway Rugby Club, where he played as a forward for many years. Former active Rugby Football Union Referee. Former occasional tennis player. Enjoys countryside and hill walking. Chairman of the East Kent Rugby Association, annexed to the Provincial Sports Association.

Community: Formerly Vice Chairman of his Parish Council. Supports a number of child and animal welfare charities.

Business: Non-Exec Chairman of a leading Machinery Safety Consultancy. Senior Partner of a Headhunting Consultancy. As a “hobby-business” he also provides commercial writing, editing and proof-reading services.

Loves: The company of family and friends, people with integrity, Freemasonry, rugby, animals, country and fell walking with his wife, a wide range of music (from opera to rock), playing the guitar, and good food and drink.

Hates: People with no integrity, injustice, bullying, cruelty, petty mindedness, TV Soaps, and the M25.

He feels that it is important for everyone to be passionate about something in their life to give it purpose, and considers himself to be immensely lucky that he has several passions: His wife, family, and friends; Freemasonry; Child welfare; Animal welfare; Rugby; Music; Life.

Craft:

Initiated into the Agricola Lodge 4501 at Maidstone in 1994, became Worshipful Master in 2000, and was Secretary from 2004 to 2009. Member of East Kent Masters Lodge. Member of Kent Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge. Former member of East Kent Scriveners Lodge. Appointed Provincial Grand Steward in 2004, Provincial Senior Grand Warden in 2008 and Assistant Provincial Grand Master in 2010. Appointed Past Junior Grand Deacon in Grand Lodge 2010 and promoted in 2012 to Past Senior Grand Deacon. Provincial Communications Officer at Grand Lodge since 2012.

Holy Royal Arch:

Exalted into Agricola Chapter at Maidstone in 1998, where he is a Past First Principal. Joined Brockley Chapter at Great Queen Street in 2001, where he was First Principal for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005, and is currently DC. A member of London First Principals Chapter. Past First Principal of the Commemoration Chapter of Installed Principals in Hythe. London Grand Chapter Rank in April 2011, and Active Provincial Principal Sojourner in East Kent in 2014.

Rose Croix, S.R.I.A. (Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia), and Mark. A Past Master of the Masonic Telecoms Association.

Significant Masonic Jobs:

Since 2011 has been the APGM responsible for all Internal and External communications and publicity, including the Provincial Website, The Provincial magazine, Social Media, Press and Broadcast Media, and Public Facing Events including the Mobile Display Unit and marquee, and Open Days.

2010-2011 was APGM responsible for, and Chairman of, the Kent Masonic Library & Museum Trust. Raised finance and kick-started the refurbishment project at the Canterbury based Library & Museum.

Editor of The Provincial magazine (2006 – 2012).

Chairman of the joint West and East Kent organising team for the Freemasons’ stand at the Kent Show (2008 & 2009).

Area Information Officer for Maidstone, Paddock Wood, and West Malling (2003 – 2006).

Financial Director then Deputy Chairman of Maidstone Masonic Centre Ltd (1999 – 2010).

Permanent England correspondent for Romania’s national Masonic magazine Masonic Forum (2010 – 2012).
