Ashford Freemason Loses Weight to Raise £1,200 for Motor Neurone Disease Research
Ashford Freemason, Worshipful Brother Kevin Stones, competed in a weight-loss challenge on a new TV show for Channel 4 – “Weighing up the Enemy” – with Dr Christian Jenson.
Kevin, a Past Master of The Lodge of Loyalty No 9494, challenged another contestant to see who could lose most weight. Each person was required to put £500 of their own money into a pot, with the winner taking the proceeds.
Kevin used his participation in the show to seek sponsorship from members of his and two other Ashford Lodges; St George Bahrain No 7389 and Stour No 2305, and has so far raised about £1,200 for Motor Neurone Disease research; an illness that affects one of his friends.
Kevin gave up alcohol, bread and potatoes and stuck to a 1,500 calories-a-day diet, went to the gym and burnt off 3,500 calories every day. Afterwards he said: “It felt good to be able to sprint up the stairs – I felt rejuvenated”.
The programme will be broadcast on Thursday 29th Jan 0010am – tune in to see if he won the challenge.
